Phyllis Elizabeth Stitzer Waite was born November 16, 1923 in Pleasant Gap and passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at Center Crest. She was the daughter of the late Charles K. and Besse Williams Stitzer.

In 1943 she married William T. Waite, who passed away October 17, 1998. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Keiser Dobelbower, and a brother, Harold Stitzer.

She was a graduate of Bellefonte High School class of 1941. She was a life long member of St Mark Lutheran Church in Pleasant Gap. She worked at Sylvania during WWII and later worked part time in retail before retirement. She was a volunteer for many years at Centre Community Hospital and at local elections.  She was also a life long member of the Pleasant Gap American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a gentle and caring person whose primary focus was her home and family. She loved to read, work puzzles, play the piano and enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Waite, Aaronsburg, PA and Nancy Brown (Terry) of Athens, Texas, two grandchildren, Joshua  Brown (Angela), Richardson, Texas and Kristie  Ramsey (Brett) , and two great- grandchildren,

Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until noon on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College,  the funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with The Rev. Kevin Shock, officiating. Interment will be in Centre County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Phyllis's name may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 160 N. Main Street, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823.
