Ralph L. Homan's Obituary
Ralph L. Homan, 76, of rural Spring Mills, died Friday, December 7, 2007, at his residence.
He was born April 5, 1931, at State College, a son of the late John C. and Mabel Shuey Homan.
On June 15, 1952, he married Esther E. Keith who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jackie A. Coleman and her husband Rick of Wellsboro, Karen R. H. Bair and her husband John of rural Port Matilda, and Cindy L. Crater and her husband Curtis of Spring Mills; one son, Ralph L. Homan Jr. and his wife Carol of Keedysville, MD; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Heilman of Frederick, MD and one brother, George Homan and his wife Mary of State College.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother, Robert Homan.
Mr. Homan operated a Dairy Farm at the family homestead on Whitehall Road, Ferguson Township, until his later employment at Penn State, in the Dairy and Swine Barns, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Pine Hall Lutheran Church at State College, the Fleet Foot Hunting Camp and the NRA. During the years he farmed, he was a member of the Happy Valley Snowmobile Club, several agricultural organizations, and the Grange.
Hunting, traveling, camping, woodworking, and fishing were among the things he enjoyed most. Through his travels, he visited every state in the Continential U. S. including Alaska, and visited Candada and Nova Scotia.
Friends will be received from 6 - 8 p. m. Monday, December 10, 2007, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Ave., State College, PA; with the Revs. Gregory P. Harbaugh and Bryan McNally officiating. Burial will follow at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or to Home Nursing Agency, Hospice, Parkview Center, Suite 7, 205 Park Place, Bellefonte, PA 16823
