Ray E. Smith, 76, of Centre Hall, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Lewistown Hospital.

He was born January 6, 1937, in Centre Hall, a son of the late George C. and Florence E. Walker Smith.

On March 2, 1958, he married Marian Ruth Marquardt who survives at home.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Centre Hall-Potter High School.

Ray had honorably served our country in the 112th Pennsylvania National Guard, having served in Germany.

He was employed and retired from the Penn State University Electrical Engineering Department after 33 years of service.

He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Centre Hall, where he served on many committees. Ray also loved baseball, basketball, bowling, and golf.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Beth Smith Fila and her husband Brian of Virginia and Christine Smith Sickler and her husband John of California; grandchildren Brenton Fila, Megan Fila Bemowski, and Mariah and Nathan Sickler; one sister Dorothy Strickler and her husband Larry; three brothers, George R. Smith and his wife Marian, and Lynn F. Smith and his wife Carole all of Centre Hall, and James Smith and his wife Jane of Philipsburg.

A memorial service will be held at noon Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Trinity United Church Of Christ, Pennsylvania and Ridge Avenues, Centre Hall with the Reverend Audra Krise officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, West Church St. Centre Hall, PA.
