The Reverend Raymond "Sarg" L. Fetzer, 84, of rural Millmont, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Sunbury.
He was born December 10, 1931 in Boggs Township, Centre County, a son of the late Raymond and Olive Sheesley Fetzer.
Mr. Fetzer served in the U. S. Army from 1952 - 1976, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. He earned a Good Conduct Medal with a third Oak Leaf, a National Defense Security Medal with one Oak Leaf, and an A. F. D. M. medal as a result of his Viet Nam Service. Upon his retirement in with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1976, he was awarded a Commendation Medal.
Following his career in the U. S. Army, he worked as an over the road truck driver for Sporoco Inc. in Selinsgrove, retiring December 15, 1989. In early 1990, Reverend Fetzer began working with the Ft. Myers Rescue Mission in Ft. Myers, FL, having served several years in that position.
Rev. Fetzer was associated with Calvary Chapel in rural Millmont, where his church family was like family to him.
Surviving Reverend Fetzer are his three children, Marsha L. Kuhns of Selinsgrove, Charles A. Fetzer of Alpha, FL and Donald Fetzer and his wife Cindy of Middleburg; two sisters, Marian Shultzaberger of rural Tyrone, and Carol D. Yurick of Atlanta, Georgia; and five brothers, Reverend Dean L. Fetzer of Sanford, FL, Ted Fetzer of McConnellstown, Joseph S. Fetzer of Mt. Union, Paul D. Fetzer of State College, and Larry J. Fetzer of Dover Delaware; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Ryan Shane.
Friends will be received from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Monday, October 24, 2016 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow immediately at 1:00 p. m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Jeffrey West officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
