Rhoda L. Houk, 92, of State College, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Hearthside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in State College.
She was born May 2, 1916, in Indiana County, a daughter of the late William and Minta McPherson Bennett.
She married Ronald Dean Houk March 26, 1937; who preceded her in death June 7, 1983.
Mrs. Houk was a member of Fairbrook United Methodist Church where she was active in the Ladies Christian Ministry. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Fairless Hills, PA, and a member of the Centre County Senior Citizens.
Earlier in life she enjoyed fishing with her husband and traveling.
One sister, Marie A. Houck of State College survives her, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
Friends will be received from at 11:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow immediately at 1:00 p. m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Gene E. McCallips officiating. Entombment will at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA, at the convenience of the family.
