Obituary

Richard A. Brobeck, age 77, of Bellefonte, died early June 2, 2024. Born August 27, 1946 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late William E. and Leda (Marshall) Brobeck. On February 2, 2006, he married Nancy (Bickel) Brobeck who survives at home.

Richard served with the US Army as a Green Beret E-5 from 1966-1970 earning him the Expeditionary Medal and Combat Medal. He then served as a prison guard at the Rockview State Penitentiary until he retired in 2003.

Richard loved to travel with his wife and family and eat his favorite dish, lobster. His love for Golf led him to volunteer at Skytop Mountain Golf Club in his retirement. Richard was an avid Penn State & Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Megan A. Brobeck of Bellefonte; 1- step-daughter, Deanna M. (Della) Adelsberger and her husband Matt of Altoona; 2- step-sons, James R. Della Jr. of Altoona and Duane J. Della of Altoona; 1 granddaughter, Kaylee Cloutier; step-grandchildren, Melissa Garman, Kacy Della, Matthew Adelsberger, Nathaniel Della, JJ Della, Madison Adelsberger, Dominic Della and Anthony Della; step-great-grandchildren, Carter and Baby James; nephew, Kenneth B Brobeck Jr. of Altoona; niece, Loleda Nead of Texas.

Along with his parents, two brothers, William E. Brobeck and Kenneth B. Brobeck preceded him in death.

Friends will be received from 2:00pm – 4:00pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, with a funeral service immediately following at 4:00pm at the Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike State College, PA 16801. Interment will be private.
