Richard P. Rowland, age 81, of Bellefonte, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, College Township.
He was born May 4, 1927, in Plumville, PA a son of the late William Clair and Vera (Skinner) Rowland.
Richard was the husband of the late Mona (Clever) and Rowena (Fenton) Rowland.
Richard was a licensed pilot for approximately thirty years. After hanging up his wings he was an aviation instructor and an airport manager retiring from the Pennsylvania State University Airport. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Gazelle and the SS George Bancroft. Richard was also a member of the Kiwanis and an instructor for the Civil Air Patrol at Indiana, PA.
Mr. Rowland is survived by three sons; Richard L., Barry M., and Daniel B. Rowland; two daughters; Sheryl D. and LaDonna G. Rowland; one sister, Elenor Huber and 6 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by a son Brad in 2004.
