Richard "Rick" Soles, 52, of State College died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family; on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
"Rick" was born September 10, 1959, in Takoma Park, MD: a son of Dee Brush Soles who survives in State College and the late Robert Lee Soles.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Leigh Ann Soles of State College; a brother, Robert Dean Soles of Flagstaff, AZ; a niece Tiana Soles of State College, and his faithful dog Harry.
Rick was a warm hearted person with a gentle soul who although hampered by illness later in life, had tremendous a zest for living. Enjoying the out of doors, artwork, socializing over coffee, and watching movies; were some of his favorite pastimes. He only saw the good in people.
Determined to be the best he could be, Rick was gold medalist in the Special Olympics. He graduated from State College High School in 1979. He was a former Weis Market employee.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held from 2 - 3 p. m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Windmere Hall, 454 Rolling Ridge Drive, State College, PA; followed by a time of sharing special memories and experiences about Rick, beginning at 3:00 p. m.
