Richard G. Truax, 65, of State College died May 2, 2015 at his home.

Born September 10, 1949 in Dott, PA he was the son of the late George and Esta (Layton) Truax.

On October 29, 1983 he married Shirley M. Barton who survives. She is a daughter of the late George and Esta (Everts) Barton of Warfordsburg, PA.

In addition to his wife Richard is survived by two sons, Dorian Jewell (married to Joan) and Casey Truax, both of State College; two grandchildren, Libby and Riley; one sister, Jeanne (Mrs. James) Snyder of Dott, PA and several nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of the Air Force. He attended the Assembly of God Church in State College and was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Christian Church in Dott, PA. He was a process engineer at TRS Technologies in State College for over 10 years, having previously worked at MuRata until its closing

"Richard studied chemistry and philosophy at Penn State. He was an avid reader and enjoyed music, especially the poetry of Bob Dylan. He was known for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and his selfless devotion to his family."

Friends will be received 2-3 PM Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with the Reverend Doug Williams officiating and military honors in accord.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to the Salvation Army, 2603 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or to PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
