Robert "Bob" W. Meyers, 67, of Pleasant Gap, died Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born March 19, 1940 a son of Catherine Robb Meyers who survives in Centre Hall, and the late Clifford G. Meyers Sr.
On May 19, 1959, he married Twila J. Beightol who survives at home.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter Debra K. Taylor and her husband Hank of Spring Mills; two sons, Richard A. Meyers and his wife Rhonda of Bellefonte, and Scott R. and his wife Carol DeArmitt-Meyers of Pleasant Gap; three grandchildren, Heather Meyers of Morrisdale, Megan Meyers of Bellefonte, and Kacie Jozefick of Spring Mills; and two brothers, Clifford G. Meyers Jr. and James B. Meyers both of Centre Hall.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a son Randy S. Meyers on May 19, 1962.
Bob graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1958, and attended the Altoona Campus at Penn State University for one year.
Mr. Meyers worked at Rockview State Correctional Institution for thirty-six years, beginning as a corrections officer and retiring as Superintendent at Rockview. He was the only person in Rockview history who worked the series of positions from corrections officer to superintendent.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall.
An avid motor sports enthusiast, he enjoyed NASCAR racing, antique cars, street rods and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Mr. Meyers was a social member of the American Legion Post 867 in Pleasant Gap, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Huntingdon, The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1094 in Bellefonte, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Valley of Williamsport Consistory, and the Free and Accepted Masons Old Fort Lodge #537 in Centre Hall.
Friends will be received from 4 p. m. to 7 p. m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p. m. Friends will also be received from 1:30 to 2:30 p. m. on Sunday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will follow at 2:30 p. m. with the Reverend Doctor Henry Covert officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, West Church St. Centre Hall.
