Robert Leonard Clarke was born on May 21, 1922 in Fonthill, Ontario, Canada. He passed away on May 19, 2010 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA. He was a resident of Wynwood House in Centre Hall, PA. Robert was the son of George Leonard Clarke and Florence Yates Clarke, and his childhood home was in Fonthill, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Trott Vocational High School, Niagara Falls, NY. Robert was a tool and dye maker by trade and he worked until he was 83 in some capacity of this trade. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Essex in the Pacific. After serving his country he married the love of his life, Caroline Clarke. They were married for 64 years. Caroline preceded him in death on October 6, 2009. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. His great passion was the game of golf. He started caddying at the age of nine in Canada and his love for the game continued throughout his life. He won numerous amateur tournaments in Niagara Falls, NY, State College, PA and Winston-Salem, NC. He was a member of the National Society of Seniors and traveled to many tournaments on the East Coast. Robert and Caroline moved to Walkertown, NC in 1970, where they spent some of the most enjoyable years of their lives. They were faithful members of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Winston Salem, NC for 39 years, making many dear friends. Robert is survived by his two daughters, Marilyn C. Weaver (Lester) of Aaronsburg, PA, and Noreen A. Weaver (Ronald) of Bellefonte, PA. He is also survived by three beloved grandchildren, Jereme Clarke Weaver (Amy) of Tyrone, PA, Megan Leigh Collins (Mark) of Louisville, KY, and Jonathan A. Weaver (Stacie) of Connellsville, PA. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren: Kristin Templeton, Alexander Weaver, Allison Weaver, Andrew Weaver, Caroline Collins, Lawrence Collins, Judson Collins, Chase Weaver, and Jakob Weaver. One sister also survives him, Dorothy Meyers of Williamsville, NY, as well as his granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Weaver of Centre Hall. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam R.E. Weaver on September 19, 2009. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at St. Peter's United Church of Christ on Rt. 45 in Aaronsburg, PA, on Saturday, May 22nd at 11:00 am, with the Reverend S.
