Robert James Dann, 79, of Centre Hall, passed away at his home on Friday, March 9, 2007, his caring family with him at his passing.
He was born January 28, 1928, in Bellefonte, a son of the late James and Margaret Worrick Dann.
He was married to the former Shirley Garbrick for 53 years, who survives at home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Sharon King and her husband David of Howard, Sherry Houtz and her husband Dorsey of Stormstown, and one son, Brett Dann of Centre Hall. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Conjetta and Kenyan King, Cassidy Houtz and Rosalie Dann; a grandson Hayden Dann; a great granddaughter Annelise King; one sister Mary Emily Smith of Bellefonte, and a brother Gerald N. Dann, of Bellefonte.
As a young man, Mr. Dann belonged to the National Guard, serving with the Headquarters Battery 200 Field Artillery Battalion in Bellefonte, PA. He served with the Guard Unit as a staff sergeant at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, during the Korean War.
Mr. Dann was a 1946 graduate of the Bellefonte High School. He also attended Central Pennsylvania Business School in Harrisburg one year, finishing the required courses.
Robert was a business partner with his father in law in Centre Hall; in the amusement ride business until his retirement. The family business involved operating rides at celebrations around the state and manufacturing rides in Centre Hall, PA.
Over the years Bob spent time taking photographs, particularly of his beloved family and his amusement rides. Most to all he enjoyed an early morning cup of coffee with his long-time friends.
Mr. Dann was a Christian and a member of Calvary Bible Church, Centre Hall, PA
Friends will be received from 7 - 9 p. m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Gilbaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall, PA
