Obituary

Robert Ellison Dorsey, "Bobby D", 58, of State College, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 at his home. Bobby died following a long and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Carol Foster Dorsey, sons Joshua (Cincinnati), Justin(NYC), Raymond, (Altoona), daughter Pamela (Altoona) and his sister Delores Lawson (Altoona). He was preceded in death by his parents, Florine and Raymond Dorsey of Lakemont, Altoona, PA,
He graduated from Altoona High School in 1964 and South Hills Business school in 1994 in Specialized Business. He owned and operated Bobby D's House of Music, 126 S. Atherton St., drove bus for CATA, and had worked for the State Store.
Bobby D, as he was known to the local music community, played drums for many bands. Among them were Bob and the Raiders, Rosemary Jane, firestorm, Jumpin Mudcats, Blues Union, Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band, and his biggest joy, playing with his sons Joshua and Justin in Big Daddy's Blues Revival.
Bobby was a Little League coach and worked with the United Way, Boy Scouts and retarded Citizens.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p. m. Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1250 University Drive, State College, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in care of Alley Cat Music, 122 S. Atherton St. State College, Pa 16801 for the Dorsey family and to further pancreatic cancer research at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
