Robert A. Foster, 92, of State College died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Greenhills Village.
Born January 21, 1919, in Bradford Township, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Adda Chloe (Jury) Foster
On April 3, 1939, he married Mary E. Poorman, who preceded him in death on April 28, 1999.
Bob was a WW II Navy Veteran serving as a Sea Bee in the South Pacific.
He retired from Rockview State Prison as a Tradesman Instructor.
He was a member of Woodycrest United Methodist Church, the Paul Carney Banjo Band, the Tuesday Night Blue Grass Jam, the Centre Squares Square Dancing Club, and the Good Sam Camping Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (John) Grove of Huntingdon and Carol (Nelson) Ditzler of Elkton, MD; two sons, Harold R. Foster (companion Jean Unger) of Robesonia and Donald E. (Joy) Foster of West Decatur; one sister, Carolyn Swanger of State College; 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother Fred and a sister Edith Foster.
Family and friends will be received 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the funeral home with the Reverend Renee Ford officiating.
Burial will follow in Centre County Memorial Park.
