Robert "Bob" Thomas Ott, 60, of State College, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born October 11, 1950, a son of the late Lucille Ott.
On July 17, 1971, he married Suzanne Clark who survives at home.
Robert graduated from Johnstown High School in 1968. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections and a Master's degree in Regional Planning at Penn State University.
As Director of Adult Services in Centre County, he was always caring, and using his superb organizational skills and creative ideas for the benefit of others. He was an active member of the Council for Human Services; serving on the Council's Training Task Force. He served on the State College Borough Human Service Grants Committee, and was a member of the state organization of human service planners, PACHSA. His compassion grew from his own early life struggles of being raised by a single parent in low income housing. Never forgetting his roots, he strived to find creative ways to serve disadvantaged families in Centre County. During the Christmas holiday, Robert especially enjoyed his role assisting the coordination of the Toys for Tots program and Centre County food banks.
Mr. Ott was a member of Park Forest Baptist Church in State College. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed spending time at home playing board games, cards, and a challenging game of pool. He also enjoyed family trips to Ocean City, New Jersey and surf fishing with his wife and children.
In addition to his wife, Suzanne, he is survived by his daughter, Adrienne Suzanne Ott, of Chicago, IL and his son, Devin Robert Ott, of State College, PA.
Friends will be received from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at the Park Forest Baptist Church, 3030 Carnegie Dr., State College, PA. The funeral service will follow immediately at 2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. James Nolten officiating. Burial will be in the Boalsburg Cemetery, Boalsburg, PA. Light refreshments will follow after the graveside at the church.
