Robert A. Trinder, 88, of State College, PA passed away from natural causes on Friday April 2, 2010 at Centre Crest Nursing Facility, Bellefonte, PA.
Born April 21, 1921 in Worcester, MA, he was the youngest son of the late Wallace Smith Trinder and Catherine T. (Mellom) Trinder. On October 19, 1944, he married the former Jane Stanley Donahue at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC, who survives him in Pittsfield, MA.
He served in WWII in the 987th Bombardier Training Squadron of the U.S. Army Air Force, stationed at various bases in Arizona from 1941-1945.
His professions included small tolerance grinder at Norton Company, Worcester, MA, owner of a small chain of hair styling salons in and around Shrewsbury, MA for 27 years from which he retired in 1977. He then served as Head of the Cosmetology Department at Bay Path Vocational School in Oxford, MA and did freelance carpentry before retiring in the early 1990s.
His favorite pastimes were woodworking, story-telling, N.E. Patriots football, and spending time with friends and family. His happy nature, funny stories, and wonderful laugh will greatly be missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughter - Laurie (Trinder) Jager of State College, PA, Robin (Trinder) Hess of Pittsfield, MA; four grandchildren - Jacob Jager and Sarah Jager of State College, PA and Christopher Hess and Alicia Hess of Pittsfield, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three siblings - Wallace Trinder of Shrewsbury, MA, Kathryn Day of Exeter, NH and Norma Dobie of Worcester, MA.
Private Memorial services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
