Obituary

Ronald E. Hastings, 72, of State College, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
He was born October 23, 1932, in Bellefonte, the son of Margaret Meyer Hastings who survives in Centre Hall, and the late Carl Hastings.
In 1953 he married his wife Elaine Lowery who survives at home.
Ronald graduated from Centre Hall-Potter High School in the class of 1951.
He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 - 1955.
He retired from West Penn Power Company in 1995, and was a former employee of Automotive Supply Company.
Mr. Hastings was a member of the the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #700 in State College, The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1600, State College, the American Legion Post 245, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 206, and a member of the Mount Nittany Squares Dance Club. He was also a member of the South- Ferguson Northeast 2 Election Board.
He especially enjoyed bowling with the State College Retirees Bowling Team, along with the Monday, Senior Bowling Couples. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great friends.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Martinez and her husband George; a granddaughter Jessica Megan Martinez; a grandson Dylan Thomas Martinez, all of Fredericksburg, VA; one sister Marjorie Dunlap of Centre Hall and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a. m. Friday, August 5, 2005, at Park Forest United Methodist Church, 1833 Park Forest Village Ave., State College, PA, with the Rev. Lee Ellenberger officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the services.
Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA, at 1:00 p. m. Friday, August 5, 2005
The family will provide the flowers. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Park Forest United Methodist Church, 1833 Park Forest Ave. State College, PA 16803 or to the American Cancer Society, Centre Unit, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, PA 16801
