Rose Marie Burkey December 20, 1929 December 3, 2016 Rose Marie Burkey, our sweetheart, passed Saturday, December 3, 2016, after suffering a serious stroke at her home in State College. Born December 20, 1929 in Mohnton, PA, she grew up in Grosshepp-ach, Germany. We loved her and she loved us. Rose Marie was a master craftsperson and seamstress, and was extremely proud of her doll-making skills and her ability to raise African Violets. She loved dark red lipstick. She liked to have fun, enjoying long walks, traveling through Europe, a glass of German wine at 3:30, eating ice cream, and riding the CATA bus. She is survived by her daughters Linda (Tom) Wilber, Susan (Zack) Vaughn and Sharon Burkey (Cole Hons), six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Rose Marie's husband, John Raymond Burkey, preceded her in death in 2008. Her life, like all lives, was full of both joy and sorrow. But in the end, she told us she was happy. The family extends a special thanks to the CATA bus drivers who were so kind to Rose Marie in the last years of her life. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family, in Bern Cemetery.
