Obituary

Roy E. McClellan, 76, of rural Spring Mills, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born December 13, 1929, a son of the late Irvin A. and Elsie Mae Grove McClellan.
On March 5, 1960 he married Ellen L. Witmer who survives at home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a brother Harold E. McClellan and his wife Shirley of rural Spring Mills and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sara M. Musser, and a brother, Glenn I. McClellan.
Mr. McClellan was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church near Colyer, where he served as a trustee, board member, sang in the choir and did countless hours of volunteer maintenance work for the church. He was a member and past chairman of the board of Zion Hill Cemetery Association. He was also a member of the NRA and the Teamsters Union.
Mr. McClellan served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Early in life he farmed with his father and for ten years was employed by Dairymen's League in Spring Mills. He retired from Penn State University having worked in the maintenance division for 24 years.
His family and his church were the important things in his life and he also enjoyed devoting time to the Centre Hall-Potter Township Food and Fuel Bank, doing mechanical work and was an avid antique car and tractor enthusiast.
Roy was a generous, benevolent, caring person who was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.
Friends may call from 6 - 8 p. m. Monday, July 31, 2006 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, where the family will receive friends from 6 - 7 p. m. Friends may also call from 10 -11 a. m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Church Hill Road, near Colyer where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. with the Rev. Jeffrey Mugridge and the Rev. William Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery, Colyer.
