Roy Edward Royer, 76, of York, S.C. died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center. A native of Milroy, Mr. Royer was a son of the late Roy Marcellus Royer and the late Margaret Louise Reed Royer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Sprucetown United Methodist Church in Potters Mills, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9575 in Potters Mills, a member of the American Legion Post 779, in Centre Hall, a member of the Moose Lodge, and a member of the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Royer is survived by his wife, Georgette Shirley Johnson Royer; his son, Douglas A. Royer, of York, SC; his sister, Jean deMin of Spring Mills; three grandchildren, David Royer, Jennifer Currence, and Curt Royer; and four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kayleigh, Alex, and Aubrey.
A memorial will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Sprucetown United Methodist Church, 177 Upper Georges Valley Road, Spring Mills, PA, with the Reverend Jeffrey Mugridge officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church, where refreshments will be served, immediately following the service.
