Russell C. Kline, 74, of Boalsburg went on to be with his heavenly father on Friday, May 9, 2008 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
He was born in Haines Twp., Aaronsburg on September 17, 1933 to the late Ralph C. Kline and Mae Guiser Kline who survives in Aaronsburg. He was one of nine children.
He was a 1951 graduate of East Penns Valley High School where he excelled in Physics.
In 1951 Russell, along with his twin brother Ralph and sister Katherine enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country.
He was a supervisor for the department of management information services at Penn State University retiring in 1989. He enjoyed working for the university and was a devoted fan of Penn State football. He also worked for Titan Metals for a short time.
He was a member of Elks lodge #1600, Milheim American Legion Post 444, VFW of Pine Grove Mills, and past commander of the former VFW Post 11321 of Boalsburg. He enjoyed playing golf and visits to the farm.
He married his wife, Shirley Dobson Kline, who survives at home, on July 24, 1953. They would have been married 55 years in July this year. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Deborah K. Salada and her husband David of Tower City, Patricia Assadinia and her husband Dr. Jamshid Assidinia of State College; five sisters, Betty Hess and Evelyn Vonada of Aaronsburg, Katherine Mobley and her husband Jim of Calhoun, LA, Bernice Capparella of Bellefonte, Bonnie Mitchell of Gettysburg; two brothers, his identical twin Ralph C. Kline of Aaronsburg, Mervin Kline and his wife Pat of Swengle; and five grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Jessica S. Shive of Portland, Or., J. Travis Shive of Quakertown, Justin A., Colin A., and Ciarra R. Assadinia all of State College.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris McWilliams.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will always be remembered for his love of nature and for his witty sense of humor which he shared with all.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the funeral home with the Reverend Ann Graves officiating. Burial will follow at the Centre County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, PA 16801 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
