Ruth A. Petroff, 86, of Bear, Delaware, formerly of Bellefonte and Port Ritchey, Florida, died at her home on Tuesday, April 4, 2006.
She was born in Osceola Mills on August 31, 1919, a daughter of the late David C. and Clara Maydew Myers.
She graduated from Osceola Mills High School in 1937. On August 25, 1938 she married George J. Petroff who died on July 7, 1980.
In 1975 she retired after 19 years of employment as a clerk at Brown's Shoe Shop in Bellefonte
Ruth was a Catholic and a life member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Patrick McArdle #448 of Bellefonte. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Petroff is survived by her daughters, Georgiana J. Walton of Pleasant Gap and Jacqueline A. Tompkins of Delaware; a sister, Betty Hosterman of Conroe,TX; two granddaughters and two grandsons; and seven great grandchildren, Jimmy, John, Liz, Kris, Jess, and Joseph Tompkins, and Rob Cox.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Gardiner and Lillian Whetzel; two brothers, Albert Myers and Chester Myers; and one great grandchild, Amanda Soo.
Family and friends will be received from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral & Cremation Services, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A funeral service will follow at the Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with Rev. Neil R. Dadey of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Bellefonte officiating. A service of internment will be held at the Centre County Memorial Park following the funeral services.
