Ruth L. Royer, 89, of Pleasant Gap, went home to be with her Lord surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.
She was born October 19, 1918, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Earl F. and Emily Heffner Wert.
On Feb. 12, 1940, she married William (Frank) Royer Sr. who preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1994.
Mrs. Royer is survived by two sons, Frank J. Royer and his wife Judith of Pleasant Gap, and Glenn Robert Royer and his wife Kara Sue of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; a grandson whom she raised, Terry Royer and his wife Susan of Pleasant Gap; six other grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Jane Harmon and Rachel Deitrick; and one brother, Earl Wert Jr.
Ruth graduated from Sunbury High School in 1936.
She and her husband owned and operated Drive-in Theaters in Central Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Royer was a member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed sewing, traveling, and collecting Native American Cultural items.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main St., Pleasant Gap, PA, with pastor Thomas Osif officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at the Mifflinburg Cemetery in Mifflinburg, PA
