Ruth R. Smith, 88, of Bellefonte and State College, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Centre Crest Nursing Home.
She was born in Bellefonte on October 10, 1918 to the late Leonard and Esther Kellerman Rhoads.
She married Charles A. Smith on May 19, 1940 who survives.
She retired from the Food and Housing Dept. at Penn State.
She was a member of the Bellefonte Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son, Kurt E. Smith of Allentown; two daughters, Carol S. Confer (Donald C.) of Mill Hall and Amy K. Maneval of Elmira, NY; two brothers, Leonard Rhoads of Bellefonte and Thomas Rhoads of AZ.; three sisters, Pauline Stonebreaker of CO., Hazel Markle of State College, and Esther Thomas of Bellefonte; and four grandchildren, Timothy and Jonathan Maneval, Kris Smith and Destany Irvin.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Marie Lucas.
Receiving of friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services PC, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas S. Elder, Sr. officiating. Burial will private and at the convenience of the family.
