Ruth M. Wertz, 83, of Centre Hall, died Friday, January 19, 2007, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
She was born August, 22, 1923, in Granville, PA, a daughter of the late Daniel and Maryetta McGill Knepp.
On December 5, 1942, she married Howard B. Wertz, who preceded her in death on October 28, 1986.
Mrs. Wertz is survived by a daughter, Lucille Dashem and her husband John, of Centre Hall; one son Merle Wertz and his wife Mary, of Lewistown; nine grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren; one sister, Marian Burke of Williamsburg, VA and Carl Hartley of Centre Hall, whom she raised from age eight and his three children who she considered to be like grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband two sons, Steven and Blair Wertz, preceded her in death.
Ruth was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm and especially enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and yarn weaving.
She was a member of Calvary Bible Church and Progress Grange both of Centre Hall.
At her request graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family, with the Reverend Richard Gilbaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
