Ruth Z. Boyer
October 10, 1923- March 19, 2016
Ruth Zubler Boyer, 92, passed away on March 19th, 2016 at the lewistown Hospital. At the time of her death Ruth was a resident of Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville. She previously lived in Centre Hall and Halifax, PA.
Ruth was born on October 10, 1923 in Spring Mills, PA to Michael Tibbens and Lodie Grace (Rishel) Zubler. Ruth grew up on a dairy farm with three brothers and three sisters. Preceding her in death were Mary Bright, John Zubler, James Zubler, lois Snyder, and Paul Zubler. She is survived by her twin sister, Sara Frazier, who lives in Centre Hall.
On August 19th, 1950, Ruth married World War II veteran, Ray Austin Boyer. Ray passed away on September 9th, 1968 at the age of 48. Ruth earned a degree in Home Economics from Penn State, which led to her 35 year teaching career with the Halifax Area School District. She took pride in her teaching and was active as a student advisor for the Future Homemakers of America program.
The lives of her 16 nieces and nephews were of great importance to Ruth. Three generations of the Zubler family called her "Aunt Ruth".
Mrs. Boyer was a member of the Centre Chapter of Eastern Star and the East Penns Valley Women's Club. She belonged to the St. John's Union Church of Farmer's Mills.
There will be no public visitation or services. Interment will be at the Halifax United Methodist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmers Mills Union Church, 3344 Penns Valley Pike, Spring Mills, PA 16875; or charity of the donor's choice.
