Sally Ann (Stover) Kaufman was born on July 12, 1938, in Altoona, PA, the second of three girls born to Margaret A. (Detrick) and Edwin C. Stover. Her life embodied quiet love. She grew up in a close-knit family in Altoona, PA. The joys of school, small trips on the railroad, church and summers at Camp Sequanota, a Lutheran camp, where her mother was camp nurse were marred only by the loss of her father when she was ten years old. After high school, Sally followed her mother into a career in nursing. She married her camp sweetheart, Richard H. Kaufman on October 26, 1957. The couple had two children, Deborah and Jeffrey and eventually settled in Bellefonte, PA. Deborah now resides in Bellefonte, PA, and Jeffrey resides in Staunton, VA.
Sally was many wonderful things. She was quiet and she was dependable; she was loving and giving. She was quick with a good sense of humor; she was organized and a planner. She was a devoted mother and wife who nursed her mother through her final illness and tragically lost her husband at an early age. She was a beloved grandmother to Richard Cole Kaufman, sister to Nancy (Stover) Rhykerd and Carol (Stover) Broeking, and loving aunt to four nieces and three nephews. She was a dyed-in-the- wool Penn State fan; sang in the church choir; and was a compassionate nurse. She was a woman of faith and courage. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
