Obituary

Sally Marie Welsh passed peacefully into heaven on October 6, 2022.  At the time of her passing, she was being served by 365 Hospice.

Sally is survived by her husband James of State College, her son Justice, her daughter Shana, grandson Joshua, her older sister Sandra of Toledo, Ohio, younger sister Linda of Houston, younger brothers Gordon of Sante Fe, New Mexico, and Glenn of Chicago.

Sally was born in Bethlehem, PA.  As a youngster she enjoyed playing tennis and won the Bethlehem City 13-year-old Tennis Championship.  At Liberty High School she was chosen to be a Class Officer. She was a special "people person." She was kind and caring in her relationships with family and friends, as well as with strangers.  Her life was filled with a litany of service to others.  As a nursing student at Lankenau School of Nursing in Philadelphia, she was selected as the Class of 1963 "Best Bedside Nurse."  After a brief period as an Intensive Care Nurse, her professional career in the Washington, D.C. area was spent in Psychiatry, where she assisted patients with the most severe forms of Mental Illness.  Later, upon retirement in 2008, she moved to State College with her husband and joined Faith UCC Church. There, she volunteered as a church "Caring Leader" where she made herself available to assist church members and friends who were in need of various types of assistance in their lives.  Sally enjoyed Penn State sports, especially the wrestling team, where she contributed as a volunteer. She lived her belief that, as humans, our purpose in life is to help each other.
