Samuel "Jim" James Murphy Grow, 64, of rural Centre Hall, PA, formerly a resident of Coatesville, PA, died at his residence on Saturday, June 12, 2004.
He was born June 15, 1939, in Coatesville a son of the late Earl John and Eva Ruth Ross Grow.
He was married to Joan A. Grow who survives in Coatesville.
Mr. Grow graduated from Scott High School in Coatesville.
He was employed by Philadelphia Electric Company of Coatesville as a gas man in the Gas Division, retiring in 1991 after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Old Fort Lodge #537 of Centre Hall, The Reading Consistory thirty second degree Rajah Shrine; a Charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Seven Mountains Aerie #4294; the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 297 of Coatesville; a social member of the Potters Mills VFW Post 9575; and the Milroy and Old Fort Post 779 American Legions. In addition he was a member of the Wagon Town, Martin Corner, West End, Millheim, and Centre Hall Fire Companies; and the Penns Valley Emergency Service Club; the Centre Hall Businessman's and Farmers Association, the Eastern Lancaster County Sports Club, Mesquite Creek Sportsman's Association, and a life member of the NRA and a member of Ducks Unlimited.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Christopher M. Grow of Coatesville and a very dear companion Ann C. McCarter of Downingtown, PA.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 16, from 7 - 8:30 p. m. at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA, where Masonic Services wil be held at 8:30 p. m.; and from 10:00 to 11:00 a. m. Friday, June 18, 2004 at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 W. Main St. Parkersburg, PA 19365. The funeral will be at the Wilde Funeral Home at 11:00 a. m. Friday June 18, 2004.
Burial will follow in the Forks of the Brandywine Manor Cemetery, Glenmore, PA.
