Sara Louise Lyon Franke, 91, of State College, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Fairways at Brookline Village.
She was born March 7, 1917, in Millvale, PA a daughter of the late Dr. Harry Danver Lyon and Rachel Rose Miller Lyon.
On August 20, 1938, she married Walter Christian Franke who preceded her in death on September 9, 1993.
Mrs. Franke is survived by three daughters, Carylon Weeks and her husband Bob of Sharon MA, Janet Donald and her husband Bob of State College, and Kathy Lang and her husband Bill of New Port Richey, FL; six grandchildren, Douglas Weeks and his wife Stephanie of Reston, VA, Carole Donald of State College, Rachel Griel and her husband Lester of State College, Beth Visioli and her husband Todd of Annandale, VA, David Lang and his wife Nicole of N. Easton MA and Pamela Cook and her husband Tommy of Oakdale, NY; and ten great grandchildren, Ryan, Jack and Sophie Weeks of Reston, VA; Nicholas and Jessica Griel of State College, Ava Visioli of Annandale, VA; Alexandria, Stephanie and Jack Lang of N. Easton, MA and Shelby Cook of Oakdale, NY.
Sara was a 1936 graduate of Millvale High School.
Mrs. Franke was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in State College. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, and canning, and was a 4-H leader for several years.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date to be announced.
