Sara E. Wheeland Corl, 94, of Jersey Shore and a long time resident of Pine Grove Mills, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Jersey Shore.
She was born September 8, 1909 in Franklinville, PA, a daughter of the late Milton and Carrie Snyder Wheeland.
On September 19, 1935 she married Robert I. Corl who preceded her in death on October 5, 1990.
Mrs. Corl had been employed in the cafteria at the Ferguson Township Elementary School and the State College Junior High School. She also worked in several women's clothing stores in State College. She had also worked at the Corl Brothers Clover Farms Store in Pine Grove Mills; and served as a 4-H and Girl Scout leader.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Pine Grove Mills and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
She was an avid gardener who enjoyed raising vegetables and flowers. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
She is survived by a daughter Judy E. Nilsson and her husband E. Jay Nilsson of Jersey Shore; two grandsons, Eric Nilsson and his wife Jenn; Bryan Nilsson and his fiancee Angela Kepple; and two step great grandchildren Ben and Cody Krahling.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 3 brothers Mills C. Wheeland II, Rodney and George Wheeland and a sister Emma Wheeland
Friends will be received from 11:00 a. m. until 1:00 p. m. Saturday, March 20, 2004 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 1:00 p. m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. George Grossman officiating.
Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
