Sarah E. (Benner) Wian, 81, of Boalsburg, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her residence due to cancer.
She was born October 1, 1935, in Bellefonte; a daughter of the late Blaine and Phoebe (Stine) Benner.
On April 23, 1954, she married Charles C. Wian at the Weaver Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He survives in Boalsburg.
Sarah was a member of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, State College, where she was very active church member, and Sunday School Teacher.
Sarah was a business administration clerk at Penn State University retiring in 2000, after twenty-two years of service. She then worked for various day care centers; most recently was Abba's House Babyland, Daycare and Preschool.
She cherished spending time with her family- camping, traveling and going to the Grange Fair. She loved being a grandmother and spoiling her wonderful grandchildren. Sarah especially enjoyed the Christmas Season; it was her favorite time of the year.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter; Melissa Quick (John) of Fleming, PA; two sons, Marlin Wian (Gayle) of Delaware and Michael Wian (Michele) Bellefonte, PA; three sisters, Carole Reynolds of San Diego, CA, Martha Fogleman (the late Ralph) of Ravenna, OH, Lannie Scott (Victor) of Curtain Village, PA; two brothers, Keith Benner (Donna) of Woodward, PA and Larry Benner (Judy) of Albany, NY; nine grandchildren, Alexandra and Christine Wian, Jessica Lynch, Andrew (Vickie), Skylor and Evan Wian, Tyler (ToryLynne), Toby and Parker Quick; nine great-grandchildren; special aunts and uncles, Dorothy Brown of Springfield, VA, Mary Leap of Lewistown, PA, Kenneth Stine of Howard, PA, Lynette Benner of Bellefonte, PA and Damaris Irvin of Beech Creek, PA., and two sisters-in-law Dot and Alayn Benner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Fred, James, and George Benner.
Friends and family will be received 6-8 PM, Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3601 Atherton St., State College PA 16801. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 31st at the Church, with the Reverend Randy Smyre officiating. Interment will follow at Meyer Cemetery.
