Scott Allen Lenker of State College and formerly Tampa, Florida passed from this life ofcomplications of Pancreatic Cancer following a long valiant battle. He was born in Bellefonte, PA , the son of Sally Albright Lenker of State College and Robert K. Lenker (wife Joan) of Shermansdale, PA. He is also survived by his brother Robert, his wife Danielle and their Daughter Sarah of York Springs, PA and by his half-brother Shane, his wife Heather and children Katie and Alex of Shermansdale, PA.
Scott is a 1983 graduate of State High and a 1987 graduate of Penn State. He worked in Manhattan in the finance industry before moving to Tampa in 1989, where he worked for Dean Witter Reynolds, Regions Bank and eventually became a Broker Associate at US Realty of Tampa Bay; he was also an Associate Broker at Coldwell Banker University Realty in State College.
He volunteered his time on the Executive Committee of the 600-member Suncoast Softball League and held the position of Treasurer. Scott was also selected into the Hall of Fame as recognition of his volunteerism and spirit. In addition to his league duties, Scott also participated in the league, and was a team member of the Tampa Bay Ducks. He helped coordinate fundraising events for the League, enabling their players to attend playoff games throughout the US. His softball league hosted an event in Scott's name which raised over $5,000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Scott also worked on fundraising effort to support the Action Network Center and the YBOR Youth Center, a medical facility for homeless teenagers. He also volunteered his time for many sporting event venues in the Tampa area and was especially excited to hold the Heisman Trophy for a few moments.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Scott's name to Beagle 911Rescue, C/O Metzger Animal Hospital, 1044 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801 or The Scott Lenker Memorial Leadership Fund, C/O Suncoast Softball League, PO Box 151492, Tampa, FL 33684. The funds will use to support an annual leadership award in Scott's name and to promote the league that Scott loved dearly.
