Shannon K. Smeltzer, 35, of rural Spring Mills, died Friday, February 8, 2008, in Harris Township, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born November 13, 1972, a daughter of Ruth Ann Slack Williams who survives with her husband Elwood G. Williams Jr. in Centre Hall and Huling P. Bressler Jr. and his wife Carla of Dillsburg.
On February 20, 1993, she married Domer O. Smeltzer who survives at rural Spring Mills.
In addition husband, parents, and step parents, she is survived by a paternal grandmother, Marcie Bressler of Deltona, FL; a sister Nadine Bressler of France, three step brothers, Mark Williams and his wife Jane of Delaware, Chris Williams and his wife Amy of Port Matilda, and Scott Williams and his wife Kelly of Pleasant Gap, her mother in law Betty Smeltzer of Centre Hall, Domer's sisters, Lori and her husband Jeff Stover, and their children, Josh, Julie and Janelle; Linette and her husband Steve Gedon, and their children Katelin, Abbie, and Alex; Domer's brother Kevin and his wife Tracey and their children Jason Jennifer and Andrew; her aunt Debbie Redin and her husband Mike, uncles, Nevin and his wife Jane Slack, Harold and Christa Slack, Barry Bressler and his wife Susan; cousins Mike Redin and his wife Nicci and their children, Gus and Lane; Kristine and her husband Rob Sunday and their children, Riley and Gabe, Ronald Marlatt and his wife Marcie, and Steve Marlatt; and her beloved Beagles, Ben, Sammie, and Annie.
Shannon graduated from State College High School in 1990 and from Centre County Vocational School of Nursing in 1991.
After passing her state board exams, she went to work for Drs. Dunne and Dunne, then worked at the Geisinger Patton Forest Office and worked part time at Brookline Terrace devoting herself fully to Alzheimer's patients. She was currently employed at Penn State Hershey Family Medicine having worked with Dr. Qiu for the past three years. Shannon was a dedicated, compassionate, skilled nurse who was admired and cherished by physicians, staff, and patients, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and depended on her.
Shannon was a member of Pine Hall Lutheran Church, and since living near Spring Mills, attended Sprucetown United Methodist Church. She lived life to the fullest, loved her Beagles, loved spending time in Poe Valley, doing counted cross stitching, and collecting Mary Englebreit collectibles. She was an accomplished cook and baker and often baked special treats in various flavors for her cherished Beagles.
Friends will be received from 5 - 9 p. m. Monday, February 11, 2008, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Centre Hall, with the Rev. Jeffrey Mugridge officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
