Shirley Pauline Eminhizer, 61, of Port Matilda, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center after becoming suddenly ill at home.
She was born March 6, 1947, in Bellefonte, a daughter of Pauline Spicer who survives and the late Earl Melvin Tate.
Her husband Ronald Eminhizer with whom she shared 45 years of love and 42 years of marriage survives at home.
In addition to her mother and husband she is survived by three children, Geoff Eminhizer and his wife Michelle and their daughter Lindsey; and Jason and Christine Eminhizer; two sisters Carol "Sis" Tice and Bonnie Evans; one brother, Earl Tate; and extended family Jeremy Jacobs, Marquise Price, Jason "Big Baby" Butter, and close friends Anne Smith and Kay "K-Bones" Turner.
Shirley graduated from Bald Eagle High School and continued her education for two years beyond high school.
Nearly ten years, Shirley worked at HRB Singer, and after moving to Arizona in 1981 she was an Assistant manager with Safeway for fifteen years.
After spending nearly thirty-four years of her life in Pennsylvania, Ron and she moved to Arizona where they spent the next twenty-seven years. In September of 2007 they moved back to Pennsylvania to plan for their retirement. Shirley enjoyed horseback riding, cross-stitching, knitting, reading, cooking and music by her favorite artists Tom Jones and Richard Seger. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions fan.
Shirley, who was a most wonderful, loving, devoted, wife, mother, sister, daughter and most of all "gampaw" will be deeply missed and leaves a void that can never be filled.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from noon to 3:00 p. m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Bald Eagle State Park, Pavilion 2.
