Shirley L. Luse's Obituary
Shirley L. Luse, 79, of Centre Hall, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 4, 2012 while vacationing with her husband in Holden Beach, NC.
Born on September 28, 1933 in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine (Biddle) Rhoads.
On June 14, 1952, she was married to William H. "Bill" Luse who survives at home.
Mrs. Luse was employed as a cafeteria worker for the Penns Valley School District for over 24 years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in State College, a 60 year member of the Logan Grange, and a member of the PA State and National Grange.
Shirley was a church organist for over 60 years in the Penns Valley Area. She had played for more than 100 weddings.
She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, crocheting, card playing, and was an avid Penn State Sports fan, especially Girls Basketball, but her greatest joy came from time spent with family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Sharon Sahd (Joe) and Marlin Luse (Carol); two grandchildren, Christopher Holt and Amanda Heverly (Jacob); two great-grandchildren, Noah Heverly and Darcee Holt; three brothers, Robert Rhoads (Nancy), Richard Rhoads (Barbara), and William Rhoads and his companion Morris Krape. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A closed casket visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 301 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, beginning at 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held from the church on Tuesday, beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor P. Stevens Lynn and the Reverend Leroy Reitz officiating.
Burial will follow at Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the Luse family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Shirley's memory to the Logan Grange, C/O Mrs. Jack Bell, 116 Mil Mar Circle, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823.
