Obituary

Shirley Dickson Runkle, 71, of Bellefonte, died Saturday, August, 9, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Onna Benzie in Bellefonte.
She was born March 30, 1932, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna Kozak Dickson.
Mrs. Runkle graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1950 and became a telephone operator in June of 1950. She worked for the telephone company until 1975, when Bell Atlantic moved to Altoona.
She was a former member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Bell Telephone Pioneers.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Onna Benzie and Tammie King both of Bellefonte; and a son, Shaun Smith of Bellefonte; two grandchildren, Brandy D. Fletemaker and Lance King. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
At her request there will be no public visitation or memorial service. Also at her request her body was donated to Humanity Gifts Registry for anatomical study.
