Stanley L. Clouser Sr., 81, of Bellefonte, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born January 28, 1926, in Bellwood, a son of the late LeRoy W. and Emma Ott Clouser.
On April 7, 1956, at Lemont United Methodist Church, he married Betty A. Wilson who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Vicky Lynn Klinefelter and her husband Kenneth of Port Matilda, and Cathy Jo Clouser of Bellefonte; one son, Stanley L. Clouser Jr. and his wife Mary of State College; three sisters, Beulah Houser of Lemont, Shirley Yingling of Florida, and Verna Hartman of Lemont; five brothers, Harold W. Clouser of Bellefonte, Donald D. Clouser and Clyde R. Clouser both of State College, Ronald Clouser of Heston, and Paul Clouser of Bellefonte; and five grandchildren, Kevin and Thomas Clouser and Brittany, Colleen, Emma Klinefelter and her fianc Brian Burn.
In addition to his parents, three brothers, Harry, Clarence and John Clouser, preceded him in death.
Stanley attended Warriors Mark and Tyrone Schools, and graduated from State College High School in 1944. Additionally he studied agriculture for two years after high school.
During World War II Mr. Clouser served two enlistments in the U. S. Army with the First Infantry and with the Military Police Detachment 1325th Service Command Unit. He earned a good conduct medal, a European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and a World War II Victory Medal.
Early in life Mr. Clouser was employed as a plasterer for Calvin Williams and as a carpenter for Les Moyer Sr. Later he was employed as a corrections officer at Rockview State Correctional Institution for over 26 years, retiring in January of 1990.
He was a charter and former member of the former Lemont Untied Methodist Church, and a former member of Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was currently a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the V. F. W. in State College, and the International Rifle Association. Currently he was a member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows, and the American Legion at Pleasant Gap, and a member of the Rockview Retirees Breakfast Group
Friends will be received from 7 - 9 p. m. Tuesday, October 30, 2007, and from 1:30 p. m. to 2:00 p. m. Wednesday at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nancy Goff officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
