Known to legions of Penn State football fans as 'The Ticket Man,' State College broker Steven R. Keesey died suddenly Tuesday at age 64 of natural causes. Steve was a Lions fan before he became a broker and was known to several generations of Penn State Nation for fair and honest dealing with buyers and sellers alike. For many years he was a fixture at Beaver Stadium Saturdays with his mane of white hair, distinctive voice and sardonic smile. In declining health since a heart operation, he passed with Marilyn, his wife of 32 years, at his side and leaves behind the family of his daughter, Kimberly Stogill, and son, Nick Keesey, all residing in State College. A member of the Baby Boom generation, he knew life's ups and downs and was always ready to take on the establishment on behalf of the little guy, even if on occasion that included himself. At the same time, those who knew him well remember a dotting grandfather who never tired of his precious grand-daughter, Lily Stogill, now age 4. Steve was born January 25, 1948 in Corning, NY where his father, Blaine, worked for the New York Central railroad and his mother, Vivian, was a secretary at the Ingersol Rand Company. After graduating high school in 1966 he earned a degree in Hotel Food Service at Penn State. As a boy he enjoyed skiing, baseball and camping on Keuka Lake with his older half-brothers, Richard, now 78, and Donald, long deceased. Steve remained close to his many cousins, especially the Benedict girls, Susan, Judy, Sheryl and Diane and their families, as well as Jerry Cadwell, all of the Dundee area. Steve's interest in antiques, billiards, and classic automobiles made him friends all over the world. For many years he raffled off vintage sport cars at meets across the east on behalf of the Cancer Society. Although all his many friends are too numerous to mention, they include Bruce Holvenstot, his childhood companion and fellow ski-bum, and Lanny Boone, his partner at Hound Dog Tours. Steve also shares his facination and belief in the spiritual world with Marcia Bjorvand of Elmira as well as the Rev. Ed Gaweba of New York City, who will officiate at the funeral service. Steve will be buried beside his devoted mother at Centre County Memorial Park, State College. Visiting hours from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday and at 11 am Wednesday to 1 pm with the funeral service to begin immediately after at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College.
