Obituary

Steven Robert Meyers died at home on March 31, 2012, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on March 18, 1956, in Bellefonte, to George Clifford and Nadine Garis Meyers.
Steve grew up in Centre Hall and was a 1974 graduate of Penns Valley High School. On July 22, 1978, he married Ruth Ann Rhoads, who survives at home.
Steve spent many years working as a truck driver, CATA bus driver, and carpenter. He was last employed by Allegheny Power, where he was a meter reader for 18 years.
Steve enjoyed woodworking and restoring old vehicles. He was an avid sports fan and loved attending PSU basketball games with his good friends. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Steve was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall, where he served as a trustee and dedicated his time and talents. He loved spending time outdoors, especially with friends, and was a charter member of the Laurel Springs Sportsmen's Club of Centre Hall, established 1981.
Steve was someone you could count on and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had an incredible zest for life. He lived life to its fullest one day at a time. His friendship and kindness has touched the hearts of many people. His family and friends will be forever blessed by his courage, his faith, and his love.
Along with his wife and father, Steve is survived by a brother, George Meyers (Denise) of Centre Hall, a son, Kenneth Grubb (Stephanie), of Greenville, four grandchildren, Nathan, Rachel, Aliza, and Jeremiah Grubb, a sister-in-law, Mary Suto (Tony) of Sterling, MA, and four nieces and nephews, Brooks Meyers of Centre Hall, Melanie Meyers (Nathan) of Brunswick, GA, Noah Meyers of Centre Hall, and Brittany Suto of Sterling, MA. He was preceded in death by his mother, his stepmother, Brenda Frizzi Meyers, and his brother, Edward Meyers.
Family will receive friends from 5-9 PM, Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, beginning at 10:30 AM, at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Judith Hulslander officiating. Interment will follow at Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
