Susan R. Freedman's Obituary
Dr. Susan R. Freedman, 63, of Millheim, died Saturday, August 26, 2006 at her home.
A memorial service will be held Sunday October 8th at 3:00 pm at the Friends Meeting of State College, 611 E. Prospect Ave., State College, PA.
Born October 24th, 1942, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Helen Ries Freedman.
She was a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University, New York, NY, with an AB in economics; the University of California at Berkeley, California, Pre-Medical; and Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Doctor of Osteopathy. Dr. Freedman completed internships at Staten Island Public Health Service Hospital, New York, NY, and Northeast Butler County Community Medical Center, Butler, PA. Her residencies were in Family Practice at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA; Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh; and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
She was a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, Pennsylvania Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association. Dr. Freedman was on active staff at Health SOuth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital, Pleasant Gap, PA; Lock Haven Hospital, Lock Haven, PA; and Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown, PA, as well as having an outpatient practice in Lewistown, Lock Haven, and HSNVRH, Pleasant Gap.
Susan was passionate about art, antiquing, politics, traveling, and women's basketball.
She is survived by her companion, Bonnie Jones of Millheim, her twin sister, Nancy Freedman, of Chicago, IL, her beloved dog, Sidney, and many cousins and friends.
