Susan Elizabeth Houts, 55, of rural Centre Hall, died Thursday, January 28, 2007, at the Fairways, at Brookline Village, State College.
She was born March 30, 1952, in New York, New York, a daughter of the late John and Florence Murison MacIntosh.
Sue is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Blazer and her husband Levi, of Ann Arobor, MI; two sons, David Houts and his wife Rachel, of Millheim, and Steven Houts of rural Centre Hall; and one brother Robert MacIntosh of Goffstown, NH.
She was a 1970 graduate of Garden City High School. In 1974 she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish and English from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, and in 1977 earned a Master of Education degree in Special Education from the University of North Carolina, in Chapel Hill, NC.
Devoting her life to children, Sue worked in Special Education with the Central Intermediate Unit, taught pre-school and play-school at Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall and later taught at Sprouting Tree Children's Center at Boalsburg, and at Grace Lutheran Church Day-school in State College, PA
Among the things she enjoyed most were, spending time with family, working with small children, reading, traveling, camping, and needlework.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p. m. Monday, July 2, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St., State College, PA; with pastor Stevens P. Lynn and Ruth Eckley, associate in ministry officiating.
