Tessy was the fourth of five children born in the Philippines to Chinese parents from Fujian Province, China.

During Tessy's younger years in the Philippines, she worked as a market trader. In 1981 she made a life changing move to Hong Kong, where she put her roots down and called it home.

Her illustrious career included the Economist Intelligence Unit,
ORBIS International, DNM Strategies, Business Week, Boao Forum,
National Institute for the Severely Handicapped (NISH) and UCBM Holdings.

In 1999, Tessy married Daniel (Dan) Grove of State College, Pennsylvania. They lived in Hong Kong until 2005 when they moved to Washington D.C.
They lived there for 5 years. During that time she proudly became an American citizen. In 2010 she and Dan moved back to Hong Kong.
Tessy took great care of Dan through his many challenging health situations up until his death in January 2012.

Tessy's had a special way of touching people's lives and her friends came from many different walks of life, varying ages and were scattered all over the globe.
The last 2 years of her life, Tessy fought a brave and often very painful battle with cancer. She left the world with the same grace and dignity in which she lived her life.

Tessy is survived by her mother Mary Ang Sam Chin, her brothers, Victor and Loreto, her two sisters, Daisy and Nancy, 13 nieces and nephews and Dan's daughters, Amy, Melissa and Laurie.
