Tevola Kathryn Frazier Spayd, 94, of Centre Hall, passed from this earth to her eternal rest, Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
She was born March 13, 1918, a daughter of the late Charles Daniel and Catherine Cummings Frazier. On July 13, 1937, she married Ray F. Spayd who preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2007. They celebrated seventy years of marriage together.
Growing up, she attended Gregg Township schools. She was a homemaker and assisted on the family farm. She also worked at Gettig Pharmaceuticals in Spring Mills and at various local stores, and later worked as a cake decorator at the former BiLo store in State College.
Mrs. Spayd was a member of St. John's Union United Church of Christ in Farmers Mills.
Among the things she enjoyed most were cooking for family gatherings, baking, having baked and decorated many of her grandchildren's wedding cakes, quilting, cross stitching, gardening and canning.
Surviving Mrs. Spayd are four daughters, Patricia A. Zerby (David) of Zion, Mary H. Homan, Brenda Burd (Larry), and Gloria J. Johnson ( Robert), all of Centre Hall; one half sister, Betty J. Benner of Centre Hall, fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Marshall R. Spayd; one granddaughter Diana L. Johnson; one grandson Jeffrey Burd; a son in law David G. Homan; eleven brothers and sisters, two half sisters and three half brothers.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a. m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at St. Johns Union Church in Farmers Mills. The funeral service will follow immediately at 11:30 a. m. at the church with the Reverend Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John's Union Church Cemetery at Farmers Mills
