Thelma M. Metz, 98, of Julian, formerly of Pine Grove Mills died on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.

Born on September 13, 1922, in Penn Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry Ernest and Sarah Jane (Kyper) Garner. On December 22, 1938, she married her husband Theodore Metz, who preceded her in death in 2007 after 68 years of marriage.

Thelma is survived by two sons: Paul Metz, Sr. (Judy) and Robert Metz, Sr. (Venida); a daughter, Barbara Swanger (Donald); one brother; three sisters; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

Along with her husband and parents, Thelma was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, one grandchild and three great grandchildren.

Thelma enjoyed bingo, camping and taking gambling trips to Atlantic City, Maryland and Hollywood Casino with her family. She was a resident of Pine Grove Mills, living on Chestnut St. from 1954 until she moved to be with her family in 2019.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00AM-11:00AM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services P.C., 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801. Interment will take place at Centre County Memorial Park.
