Obituary

Theodore "Teddy" S. Metz, 88, of Pine Grove Mills, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born March 19, 1919, in Altoona, a son of the late Walter and Duella (Kline) Metz.
On December 22, 1938, he married Thelma Garner who survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Swanger and her husband Donald of Julian; two sons, Paul T. Metz and his wife Judy of Julian, and Robert L. Metz and his wife Venida also of Julian; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his generation, having been preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a grandson Donald, and a great granddaughter Danielle.
Mr. Metz served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He was employed for many years as a truck driver for C & W Construction, retiring at age 65. After his retirement, he worked part time as a truck driver for Stone Valley Construction Company.
Teddy especially enjoyed riding snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, hunting and spending time at his son's hunting camp.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a. m. until Noon on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will follow at Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The American Cancer Society.
