"Ted" Trostle
December 21, 1935 – October 2, 2022
Theodore C. "Ted" Trostle passed away on October 2, 2022 at the Village of Penn State Retirement Community in State College, PA.
Born on December 21, 1935 in Bellefonte, PA, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Judith "Judy" Trostle, and his parents Harry and Elizabeth Trostle.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Michel (David) of State College, PA, his son Harry "Chip" Trostle (Wendy) of Eldersburg, MD, four grandchildren, Shambra Hamilton (Eric), Timothy Meacham (Leah), Amanda Trostle and Harrison Trostle, and four great grandchildren, Aislinn, Wyatt, Henry, and Andrew.
Ted was a 1953 graduate of State College High School. He attended Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, PA, where he received a certificate from the Commercial Baking program in 1956. Ted went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University in 1958. He served as a Private in the U.S. Army from 1958-1964 as a Communications Center Specialist. He later worked at HRB-Singer in State College and Hazeltine in Greenlawn, Long Island, NY. He returned to State College in 1981 to work as a quality control engineer for Murata Electronics, until his retirement in 2000.
After retirement, Ted was passionate about helping others. He was involved with Meals on Wheels as well as the Veterans Fly Fishing program held by the local chapter of Trout Unlimited. He was a licensed Amateur radio operator and an avid fly fisherman who could often be found on the banks of Spring Creek. Ted was a member of Stepping Stones Community Church and a volunteer who operated their sound system during Sunday services. He and his wife Judy were members of the IRV2 Mid Atlantic Campers group and traveled the country in their RV for many years. Ted and Judy were also active members of the Nittany Lion Club and were fans and supporters of Penn State Basketball and Football. Above all, Ted was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who would help anyone in need.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7 at Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA, with graveside committal immediately following at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA. Service officiated by the Reverends Chris and Cindy Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the State College Area Meals on Wheels. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences left for the family at www.hakygeorgianafh.com
