Therisa Gerard, 85, of State College, formerly of New York, Florida, and New Jersey, died Friday, June 15, 2005, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.
She was born September 23, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie Zavatska Halackiewicz.
On Sept. 24, 1938, in Bellerose, Long Island, NY, she married Ralph Gerard, who preceded her in death on August 31, 2002.
Mrs. Gerard attended Sewanahaka High School, Long Island, NY. She worked for the State Department of Welfare in New Jersey and after her retirement worked as a bookkeeper at two restaurants. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in State College, and while living in Florida, was a member of the V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister Frances Krenkel of Blairsville, GA. In addition she is survived by two nieces, Pearl Lawton of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Helen Fossa of Union City, NJ; two nephews, Richard Kutch and his wife Susan of State College and Frank Kutch and his wife Cherie of Leesburg, FL.
Friends will be received from 2 - 4 p. m. Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, PC (formerly Kyper Funeral Home) 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. An entombment site service will be held at 1:00 p. m. Monday, July 18, at the Garden Mausoleum of Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
