Obituary

Thomas D. McGonigal, 90, of Eagle Valley Personal Care Home, Milesburg, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, died Sunday November 26, 2006, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College.
He was born October 7, 1916 in Hanover, PA, a son of the late Thomas and Rena Kemper McGonigal.
He was married to Annette Decker who preceded him in death.
After high school, Mr. McGonigal served in the U. S. Army with the 216th Infantry Training Battalion, earning a World War II Victory medal.
He worked at Hanover Brands becoming a supervisor in canning, and continued to work in food canning in the Bloomsburg area for many years. He later went work for the Swain Corporation in Kennett Square, retiring from that position. His expertise was in mushroom production and processing.
Mr. McGonigal was a 32 degree member of the Free and Accepted Masons and a life member of the American Legion. He especially enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two sons, Donald McGonigal and his wife Patsy of Hanover, Robert Mcgonigal and his wife Pat of Littlestown; one sister, Rosetta Markle of Hanover; and two nieces Karen Workman and her husband Bill, of Bellefonte, with whom he resided initially after he moved to Centre County, and Darlene Haines and her husband Dale of Boca Raton, FL.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Thomas McGonigal and three sisters.
Friends will be received from 10:30 until 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 a. m at the funeral home, with the Rev. Russell L. Sauerwein officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA
