Travis E. McDaniel, 90, of State College, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at his residence.
Born August 19, 1922 in Washington, D.C. he was a son of the late Travis Egbert and Ethel Smith McDaniel.
On September 18, 1948, he married Ruth E. Hutchison, who preceded him in death in July 2005.
Travis attended Milton Hershey School for Boys from age twelve to eighteen, where he graduated as Valedictorian; and received honors in Glee Club and Band. Mr. McDaniel honorably served our country in the Army during WW II, obtaining the rank of Major. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1949 with a degree in Industrial Engineering; and was a member of Sigma Pi.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Controller for Coulter Electronics in Miami, FL.
Travis attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College.
He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Rowland, Bonnie Deem (Ray), and Laurie McDaniel; one son, Peter Felsberg; one brother, Carey McDaniel; six grandchildren, Nathan and Benjamin Deem, Elizabeth Anderson, Matthew and Maryann Rowland, and Heather Kelly; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Rowland; and two sisters, Irene Tanguy and Betty Sue Baker.
Memorial Services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 250 E. College Ave., State College on Monday, February 11, 2013, beginning at 1:30 PM with the Rev. Dr. G. Edwin Zeiders Jr. and Rev. Eric J. Shafer officiating.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
